Former USMNT Captain Carlos Bocanegra Lists in SoCal

After concluding a successful 15-year professional soccer career earlier this year, former U.S. Men’s National Team captain Carlos Bocanegra has his eye on another goal: selling his million-dollar spread in Rancho Cucamonga, CA.

While the city’s name has lent itself to plenty of easy chuckles, the Southern California suburb was one of America’s fastest growing cities in the early part of this century. Listed for $1,199,900, Bocanegra’s house sits on a lot just shy of an acre and set well back from the street.

The front of the house has a long looping driveway and tons of lush landscaping. Inside, you’ll find almost 3,500 square feet of luxury living space with four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The home’s vaulted ceilings and open floor plan provide an airy feel, and the travertine tile throughout the living area contributes to the cool factor.

Speaking of cool, if you’re into imbibing, the home has its own wine cellar and tasting area. And if you’d like to enjoy a smoke with an apéritif, the cellar comes fully equipped with its own temperature-controlled humidor.

When you get tired of retreating to the man cave, you can always relax in the master suite. This home’s master comes with an elevated seating area just off the bedroom that’s being marketed as a “master retreat.”

Beyond the bedroom proper, the home’s master bath and walk-in closet have both been recently upgraded and serve to make the master bedroom a peaceful part of this Cucamongan palace.

Bocanegra grew up in the Inland Empire and began his career with the Chicago Fire in 2000. Over the course of his storied career, Bocanegra laced up his spikes in over 100 games in the English Premier League, over 100 games back home in Major League Soccer and another 100 between various club stints in France, Scotland and Spain.

His stalwart defensive skills also made him indispensable for his country: He racked up over 100 caps for the U.S. national team and captained the team out of the group stage at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
